HOW TO JOIN AND START FLYING WITH LIFT

Peter shows a visitor his sailplane and acquaints him with flying in LIFT.

.

LIFT MEMBERSHIP

Membership in LIFT is always open. This is all we ask of members:

  1. Pay an annual $40.00 membership fee. This fee pays for our flying field lease and upkeep, this web site, and other incidental costs.
  2. If you plan on flying at the club field, you must be an AMA member. Membership provides required liability insurance for you and your aircraft. Information and an application are available at the AMA Web site at http://www.modelaircraft.org
  3. Notify the club of what radio frequencies you are flying or find out the frequencies no one else is using before you purchase radio equipment. Our club maintains a list of frequencies that helps to minimize frequency conflicts at the field and maximize flight time.
  4. Adhere to flying field safety rules while using the flying field.

GETTING STARTED IN RC SAILPLANES AND SILENT POWERED AIRCRAFT.

One way to get started is to come out to our club field and see for yourself what a great hobby this can be and meet some of our members or...

  1. Send an e-mail to the address at the bottom of this page and we will get back to you within the week and tell you when we will be out at the field and flying.
  2. You can also come to our monthly winter meetings.

They are open to anyone and dates, location, and time is on LIFT's web site front page

During the winter, November – April, we meet the second Tuesday of the month at various locations. These meetings are very informal and usually involve a brief meeting of a few minutes and then discussion on various topics associated with our hobby. This is a great forum to ask questions, All of us have asked for help or information at some time. That is one of the things that club membership is great for. Often these questions about some facet of our hobby turns into a fun discussion.

Getting your airplane into the sky and finding a thermal, on most days, is not difficult. To become an accomplished flier who can fly multiple function aircraft on a competitive level takes a lot of time and practice. Do not feel you must become competitive. Most of our members just enjoy flying with friends.

There are a number of www sites with information on RC sailplanes and electrics. Two sites are at http://www.fatlion.com/sailplanes/sailplanes.html and www.rcsoaring.com . Both provide a wide range of information including links to various publications, kits, web sites, manufactures, and other related information.

For additional information send an E-mail to the WebMaster who will reply within a day or two.
