We flew the IPC comp last weekend on Sunday the 6/4/08.  Being in the southern hemisphere we are now in autumn and the conditions were really tough on this occasion with very strong and gusty SE winds, almost full cloud cover and only a few minutes of sunshine every now and then.  I have been flying the IPC for many years and have to say that this was the toughest IPC days flying, bar none.  There was some patchy lift but the wind was so strong that at 2 to 2.5 minutes it was time to punch forward as the model was nearing sight control limits.  Even with a slippery model it was slow progress back to the field.  Landing also proved to be a significant challenge with the model being buffeted around on approach.  I suppose that's enough excuses I can now let you know that we did not record a very good score as you can see in the attached summary.

 

For those who aren't aware our club the MRSSA (Moreton Region Sports Soaring Association inc.) is in Brisbane which is the capital city of Queensland, Australia.  Temperatures this time of year usually range from around 15 - 18 overnight to 25 to 28 deg C daytime.
