APRIL 2008
LIFT INTERNATIONAL POSTAL CONTEST
On April 19, 2008 LIFT'S IPC was finally held on an overcast morning with temperatures expected to rise into the 70's F. The first flights were launched into still air and pilots needed every piece of lift possible to hit the 6 minute goal. Morning thermals were very hard to find or non existent.
As the morning progressed the sun began to break through, temperatures rose, and thermals began to appear in various locations seeming to appear and disappear in the light to no wind conditions.
Peter was flying very well and had even better landings to obtain near perfect scores. Pat Sullivan flew very well despite the fact he only flies in the occasional contest. Ted Groesser flew his usual very meticulous flights barely getting to the spot on most launches but always defying gravity and landing very near or on the spot. The last rounds were plagued by winch problems but all managed to finish the contest with respectable scores and aircraft in tact.
Any day we get to fly is a good day, no matter how well you fly. No crashes and finally warm weather.
What more can you ask?
